‘He’s making a list,
He’s checking it twice,
He’s gonna find out who’s naughty or nice
It is DECEMBER and
‘Santa Claus is coming to town.’
Yes, Santa Claus is coming soon and on Christmas Eve he will slide down the chimney and drop some presents for you! Of course, we are all excited to receive new gifts from Santa. But have you ever thought, where are you going to keep all your new interesting gifts? Do you have enough space in your cupboard or toy chest?
The Holidays are here! Free up space and organize
The holiday season is a wonderful time of the year. Yes, children are extremely excited, but adults too have a lot of planning, shopping and decorating to do as the festive season arrives. There are celebrations, parties, gifts, family gatherings and so much fun.
But it is also a time when we need to clean our homes, take out our old clothes and toys and make space for new gifts. And of course, how about some decorations! We all would love to have a Christmas Tree, tree ornaments like bells, hollies, stars and all the other Christmas related decorations in our homes. So how can you start organizing your room and making space for the decorations and the gifts? Let’s find out!
Step by step
Cleaning and organizing everything in your room on a single day can get tiring and confusing. Instead, take it to step by step, organize one cupboard or one area of the room each day.
Make a fair decision
Alright, there are many clothes, books, toys etc. that we keep in our cupboards or stack them in drawers. We love them too much to give them away. But at the same time, we outgrow many and we hardly use them either. So it’s time to make fair decisions. View the items that you probably haven’t used in a while and see if you really need them. If not, then keep them aside and free up some space.
Donate, reuse, recycle, discard
Once you have stacked up all the things that you don’t need, separate them into piles. If they are in good condition why not donate them? You could wrap your toys that you don’t play with and send them as Christmas gifts to children NGOs. Things that have been used for a long can be recycled and converted to useful items. For example, you can cut up used clothes to make carry bags. If there are things that are torn or in really bad condition, then put them in the garbage can.
First, let’s think about how to stack our wardrobe. Since you have cleared the things already, you will now have to spend less time in organizing your cupboard and room. Make neat separate piles for your clothes. It is wintertime, so you will to make space for woolen wear, scarves, socks etc.
For toys, place them tidily in a box or bag that you can keep inside your cupboard or in a corner. And guess what? Once you have organized it all, you will definitely have enough free space for your new gifts.
Bookshelves and school notebooks and stationery shelves should also be dusted and organised to complete the clean look of your room and study table.
Parents always look forward to helping their children. So request their help on weekends and once they help you, they are sure to get more gifting ideas too.
Decorate and celebrate
Christmas is all about lights, snowy backdrops, candies, cakes, bells, Christmas Trees, Santa Claus…phew! the list can go on and on. There are so many ways in which you can decorate your home and room to ring in the celebrations.
Let your imagination free
Think up creative ways to decorate your home. Why not think of different Christmas related themes, such as a décor where Santa is on his sleigh is riding through the snow, sliding from one room to another. Another maybe, a reindeer related theme, or a red and white color theme, or a star and bell theme. The possibilities are endless, so start thinking! Planning is the key to a great decorated home.
Create or order decorations
After figuring out the decoration theme and where you want to place it, it’s time now to make or order them. Rummage through all your older decorations and take out your scissors, glue, colored papers etc. You can watch various craft videos to create your own ornaments, stars, hollies and decorative gifts to put on the Christmas Tree. Or you can make decorations related to your theme. Also, there are many wonderful items available online. So you can order your decorations online and put them up once they arrive. And you can also order for little shiny lights to fix them on the Christmas Tree, or outside your door or in a corner or whenever you like!
Lights, camera, action
All you children as you slip into bed on Christmas Eve you know you have been good! You know Santa will deliver to you some fantastic presents because well, you have taken so much effort to clean, tidy, organize and decorate your room and home! And so when you get up in the morning, you will find your present under the Christmas Tree or beside the decorative lights or next to your sleigh themed decorated bed. Hurray! You are going to love them for sure! And don’t forget to click pictures of your decorations and new gifts and share them with your family and friends.
You have your e-newspaper on Les Petits, which has places to paste your picture. It would be lovely if you paste those pictures and share them on our social media handles. Once again, take parents’ help.
Time for us to sing…..
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er those fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtail ring
Making spirits bright
Oh, what fun it is to sing
A sleighing song tonight.
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
