How do we make the most out of winters?

Winter is the most active season of the year, so why be lazy. The sun is not too bright, the wind a bit too strong. There is chill. And the coziness can be best enjoyed from under the blankets. Oh yes, we are talking about the winters. And how much we all love to snuggle under warm sheets on our soft bed! Or just slump on the couch, with a cup of hot chocolate milk. But come-on you all- let’s move out from your sofas, mattresses and corners. Because trust us, winters are best enjoyed doing a lot many other things. In fact, winters are the best time to keep yourself busy. In summers you feel hot and tired in no time. But in winters you can carry out physical activities and chores without breaking into any sweat. So shake off the laziness and let’s make the best use of our time during this wonderful time of the year. Would you like to know how? Read on! Exercise One of the best ways to keep you active during winters is by exercising. Now we do understand that it is very hard to wake up early in the morning during the winters. And so why not shift doing exercises later in the day, maybe in the evenings or after online school. Watch workout videos and copy the exercises or you can come up with your own exercises too. Stretch, jump and skip a lot and then see how your laziness just vanishes into thin air. Outdoor activities A jog or run can help us to be active especially during the winters. It is also a great way to stay fit after eating the delicious sweets and dishes that we all enjoy the most during the cold seasons. Go for a jog with your parents or team-up with your neighborhood friends for a cycling session every day. Or if your friends stay, not too far from home, go together to a park or the beach to soak up the sunshine. But yes, please wear a mask, sanitize your hands and keep a distance when out. Also, did you know that many birds migrate during the winters? So why don’t you take out your binoculars and maybe go for nature walks? You can write down the birds or different plants that you spot in your neighborhood and keep a record of them. You can also do the same from your verandah or terrace. Home chores Another great way to stay active and beat the laziness is to constantly keep yourself busy doing little things that can be helpful and fun. Make your bed every day, clean your cupboard, and organize your books and toys. Help in taking the thrash out or run quickly to the store to get some groceries needed in the kitchen. Lay the dinner table, water the plants or help in dusting the table. Better give your cycle a good clean by dusting and scrubbing it. There are so many things you can do at home that can keep you busy and also make you more responsible!
Long term activities and skills Of course, you can learn a new skill and join a musical or sports class online. Or if you like arts, then you can get creative and make crafts and paintings for your home and room. But you can also take up a project to better a part of your home or neighborhood. Let’s say your terrace is dusty and patchy. You could actually plan out a daily task and dust and paint it till it looks clean and new. Or start growing a little nursery of flowers on the balcony and look after it. And if you like animals, why not convince your parents to let you have birds or fishes to take care of. Basically, if you take up a project or task such as these you commit to taking care of it for a long period of time. Since you have the responsibility we are sure you will not feel lazy. In fact, you will be always thinking actively about it too. But it is fine to enjoy some laziness after all the active work So after the online classes, homework, exercises, jogs and task management you can allow yourself to feel just a little lazy. Pick up a book and get under the blanket or learn how to make an easy warm milkshake and sit with it in your cozy corner. Enjoy the light, the sun and breeze but try and keep your mind active. It could be by reading a book or imagining a story or thinking of creative ways to make crafts. So we really hope you enjoy the winter season. Eat well, drink lots of water and stay very active. Be excited, be energetic!
